Elite Certification for Credit Card Processors

Credit Card Processors can now obtain Elite Certification to be a Lightning Partner

The Lightning Online Point of Sale Technology Platform works with a few elite credit card processors as part of its Partner Program. Starting January 1, 2024, any retail customer that wishes to work with a non-certified credit card partner will be charged an additional monthly fee of $59.  This fee will not be charged after the credit card processor achieves Elite Certification and becomes a Lightning partner.

Credit card processors who wish to obtain Elite Certification would need to pay a one-time fee of $250 to cover the costs of the onboarding process. Once the Elite Certification is obtained, there is no further fee payable by them. They are only required to invest time and effort to adopt and maintain the accreditation. 


We have noted that other POS vendors work exclusively with one processor. And, if a store chooses to use any other credit card processor, they are charged an additional monthly fee of $400! Our practice is more customer friendly as we offer our customers a choice of several established credit card processors. We also offer them the flexibility of choosing any other credit card processor provided the company gets certified by us based on knowledge, responsiveness, and reasonable prices.  To avoid this additional fee, retail customers could do either of the following:

  •      Disconnect the integrated credit card interface and use stand-alone units. 
  •     Have your processor apply for Elite Certification by Lightning.

The credit card company will benefit from improved processes and controls while providing them with additional credibility. Plus, access to instant technical support.  Best of all, once certified, Lightning will not require a percentage of their residuals which will remain one hundred percent in their pocket.

Credit card processors who are interested in obtaining this certification should use the link below to complete and submit an application. Once your application has been approved, the credit card processor will need to schedule a demo of the Lightning Platform for the benefit of its representatives. Understanding the platform and its many features is critical to building a long-term relationship and growing our mutual businesses.
  Generally, it takes about sixty days from inception to obtaining Elite Certification.


Once the processor has achieved ‘Elite Certification' it will not expire provided the terms noted below are followed. 

1. Your company brings a minimum of six new customers per calendar year to our platform. 

NOTE:  Highly engaged partners on average bring twenty-four new merchants to our platform annually. 


2. Your company works in an organized fashion respecting our time and that of our mutual retail customers. This would involve responding quickly and working with our Lightning support staff to resolve an issue being faced by a mutual retail customer.  We appreciate that credit card processing is your primary source of revenue. However, our retail customers are our sole source of revenue. Efficient and timely response benefits all parties including our retail customers. Inefficiencies produce extra, unnecessary work and slow the resolution process.


3. You must underwrite the transactions for no signature.
