Inventory items that are set up as a Kit-Club Sales, please note that Sales & Profits can be calculated in a few different ways.
Basic Example:
Item A, with a cost of $ 12.00 when sold on its own sells for $ 20.00 Item B, with a cost of $ 15.00 when sold on its own sells for $ 25.00 If you build a kit which contains Items A & Item B and call it ‘December Gift Basket’ that sells for $ 40.00, the profit is $ 13.00 because the cost of its components (Items A & B) totals $ 27.00.
The Quantities Sold report, with option one, ‘Show Master Kit/Club item, not the sub-items‘ will only display the ‘December Gift Basket.’ The Revenue’ and ‘Profit’ calculation is perfect.
But, what if you wanted to see the sales of each item within that Kit/Club?
By selecting ‘Show only the sub-items’ item A & B would now appear which would still report correctly an overall cost of $ 27.00. However, since there is no individual price for these items, the ‘Revenue’ and ‘Profit’ will not be able to be calculated correctly. Thus, the data will be distorted in a way that is regarded as inaccurate, unfair, or misleading.
