Since Lightning Online Point of Sale runs through an internet connection, what happens if you lose your internet connection?
LIGHTNING HAS ANSWERED THIS MAJOR CONCERN.
Lightning Online Point of Sale offers a small application which is installed on your local computer that will continue to run your store if your internet connection is lost.
Emergency Mode requires setup prior to an emergency and is available to Lightning Silver and Gold users. This feature is not available to Bronze users.
A few quick facts on this feature:
Only sales can be performed in stand alone mode. No back office functions such as receiving inventory, sales reports, altering security settings and more is available. Emergency Mode will only be used in true emergencies and its focus is to keep your registers generating sales.
* Credit Card Processing:
If Lightning Online Point of Sale servers are experiencing connectivity issues then your store can run in Emergency Mode and continue to ring sales including processing credit cards.
* Merging of Data:
Sales that were performed in Emergency Mode are stored in the local hard drive and will be merged back to the Lightning Online Point of Sale web servers when the connectivity issues are resolved. Inventory quantities, each invoice and more will be merged so no lose of business data will occur.
* Test your Hardware:
All of your point of sale hardware will work in Emergency Mode such as cash drawers, receipt printers, digital signature pads and pole displays. We highly recommended you do the required configurations/testing prior to an emergency. The better prepared your organization is for an internet outage the smoother this crises will play out.

Key inventory discrepancies reports are produced and automatically archived. We have been doing this since 1989 and our sheer experience helped us make a beautiful interface.
Lightning's straight forward, but very detailed security sub-system allows a user to be granted access or not on various system options.
We realize that all users have different requirements so we have placed a large emphasis on the customization of the vital inventory data entry screen.
The system has a few fields that might apply to all users...Example:
Department: (this field is mandatory)
Style: This field can simply be thought of as a sub-department. If you feel it is not required, simply disable it. Example of it's possible use:
Department – Wine, then it's possible Styles associated with it:

> Style: Domestic – Oregon
> Style: Imported – Portuguese
Disable this field if it does not apply to your business model
Qty Per Case:
If your business don't receive/sell units by the case, then disable this feature.
If your company sells by the case with a preset discount then enable this feature.
Two key fields make up the automatic reordering. If your business plans on using the advanced reordering aspects of the system, then enable this.
If your state requires you to attach a bottle deposit to some items then please enable this feature.
For stores that sell spirits (Liquor). An extensive drink recipe database consisting of over ten thousand drinks is included. Provide printed recipes for your customers which they will love.

Lightning Online Point of Sale can push your inventory items and levels to their server based on a few factors:
Days and time intervals-- This will enable your on-line customers to know exactly what you have available for sale.
Or, you can select not to show your quantities and simply take all the orders you want and worry about filling those orders after that fact. We adjust to your business logic.
Since the browser needs to communicate with your point of sale hardware (receipt printer, cash drawer, signature capture pad, pole display, bar-code label printer and more) an Internet Explorer Active-X must be installed. When the user first enters into the Ring Sales screen a typical yellow warning box will be displayed on the top of your screen. This is a one time almost automatic procedure and takes less than three seconds.
The Ring Sales screen requires Internet Explorer. All other non-register based systems can use a variety of browsers.
For an extra layer of security, the system logs the previous twenty password resets.....Either failed or successful and by who the request was made by. Only that user or the system administrator can reset a password.
When you perform your 'Close the Day,' key business data is produced. A few significant items are displayed, but sometimes bypassed by the store owner. The following critical information should always be monitored.
Plus your 'Close the Day' reports can be re-printed at any time.
The system administrator can even be setup to receive the daily 'close the day' report via email. Plus other email alerts can be setup so the administrator is always in the know.
When a clerk adds a customer, the system checks for a possible duplicate. If a duplicate is found a warning box appears prompting the clerk to take action.
The duplication check is based on the following criteria:
Last name match
Street address match (on the number only)
ZIP code match
If a possible match is found, the system will prompt the clerk with the screen sceen below:
Lightning email alerts is our most sought after feature. This employee, for example, John Adams, will trigger an email alert to the stores system administrator when one of the following events take place.
Lightning Online Point of Sale has multiple inventory reports built in.
Example: Produce a list of items you purchase from: Vendor = 'Charmer Distributing' within a department of 'Wine' but only the items you have zero and below in stock.
Plus you can tell the system what fields you want to print on your report.
For this example I'm going to select SKU, Description, Size, Cost, Price, Margin, Markup & Qty on Hand.
